In Loving Memory of Zachary James Magri
Zachary James Magri, age 22, passed away unexpectedly at home on March 7, 2018.
Zach was born to Maria Nicole Moore and James Andrew Magri on March 28, 1995 in Santa Rosa, CA. He and his family moved to Colorado Springs when he was a toddler. He graduated from Liberty High School and had recently started a job at Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Zach was a bright light in the world, a kind person with a generous heart, at his best in service to others. He was that guy in the crowd that everyone wanted to talk to, the life of the party. Famous for his sarcastic wit and offbeat, sharp sense of humor, he could be counted on to bring laughter anywhere he went. When Zach was in middle school, his science teacher told his mother once that he had to resist laughing at Zach’s jokes in class when he should be keeping him on task. But beyond the jokes lay Zach’s true spirit, ready to lend a hand or an ear to anyone who needed it. His inner compass always found the true north of decency and compassion; he knew what the right thing was, and that’s what he always tried to do.
It’s probably no surprise that someone who valued fair play so highly in life would love sports, and Zach did: basketball, skiing, football, lacrosse – and of course, his beloved Kansas City Chiefs. He loved music, too, and had eclectic taste: the Eagles, Kansas and Lynrd Skynrd were some of his old-school favorites, along with Dixie Chicks, JuicyJ, Six9, Drake, Eric Church, Keith Urban and John Butler. He made his own music, too, playing the guitar.
Zach leaves behind a large, loving group of family and friends: his father, James Andrew Magri; his mother, Maria Nicole Moore; his sister and brother, Jessica Ann Magri and Noah Grant Magri; his paternal grandmother, Phyllis Magri; his uncle, Daniel Magri; his maternal grandparents Russell and Jan Moore and Gwen and Huntley Wilmoth; his Godparents George and Cathy Moore; many aunts and uncles: Bill and Jamie Moore; Lisa Rivera; Kelly Wilmoth; Lindsay Wilmoth; Di and Jan Czarkowski; Dan and Mary Stratford; and Heather Stratford; his cousins Cindy, Jacob, Ben and Alicia Pedersen; Brittany and Blake Moore; Anthony Hawkins; Braelyn Braefied; Levi Emerson; Beau and Raylee Wright; Tyler and Madi Stratford; Eva and Juliet Stratford; Eli Cannella; Riga Czarkowski; Dustin Tanquary; Michelle and Valerie Lascon; Ciera Kelton; Jordan Williams; and Vaughn Wilmoth.
He was preceded in death by Peter Magri.
