He was born on January 21, 1942 to Raymond Egbert Mason and Mary Louise Glimer in Shreveport, Louisiana. He grew up in Shreveport until age 11 when his family moved to Longview, Texas. Bill attended many Bible studies over the years and had a great knowledge of the Bible. He believed very strongly in his faith and wore it daily. Bill was a proud member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Salida, Colorado. His spiritual life and his church were very important to him.
He was definitely an adventurous man. Bill enjoyed things like skydiving, skiing, boating and walking on the beach. In his youth he loved to play baseball. Bill will always be remembered as an avid bridge player.
Bill will also be remembered as a kind man, who loved the outdoors and the beautiful mountains that were surrounding his home. He loved his family and dog Cooper.
Fall in Colorado was always a special time for Bill. He loved to go on Aspen viewing trips around the mountains. It’s no wonder his passing took place during the great changing of the seasons.
He had Parkinson’s disease for 29 years and never complained. A favorite pastime was cycling and he continued to ride bicycles for many years after his diagnosis. Before he entered the care facility he still could ride his recumbent bike.
