In Loving Memory of Sterling Cy Blocker

Sterling Cy Blocker, age 41, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2022 in Colorado Springs. Cy was born on July 2, 1980 in Dallas, Texas to Elizabeth Gayle Norwood and Sterling Howard Blocker. Growing up in Colorado Springs, Cy attended Cheyenne Mountain elementary, junior high, and high school.

He had an insatiable passion for life and loved nothing more than playing with his grandkids. When he wasn’t working for Thomas & Sitz Construction, Cy enjoyed working on cars, skiing, fishing, and mountain biking, but being with friends and family were among his favorite pastimes. Cy was also a true animal lover, often taking in strays and spending time with his family’s animals. It goes without saying, he loved his family without abandon.

Cy was a genuine person with a heart of gold and a one-of-a-kind spirit. The simplest of pleasures in life brought him great joy. He was kind to everyone he met, was well loved and admired by all, even though he was a well-known prankster. Cy will forever be remembered as a wonderful son, compassionate father, and caring brother.

He is preceded in death by his father, Sterling Howard Blocker and his daughter, Vadah Lynne. He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Gayle Norwood; sister Elizabeth Ashley Blocker (and partner Kirsten); his daughter Kaci Cardenas and grandchildren Avyana and Zayden; brothers Hamilton Blocker (and wife Amanda), Brandon Blocker (and wife Jen); extended family Katherine Blocker and Robert Holt. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at The Sanctuary, located at 1930 W. Colorado Avenue, at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Springs Rescue Mission or Two Girls Four Paws All Breed Rescue, the dog rescue his daughter owns.
