Shirley Yvonne Hiscock

1928 – 2020


Shirley Yvonne Hiscock of Colorado Springs, CO, and Woodland Hills, CA (1954-1993) passed away on September 7, 2020 at the age of 92.

Shirley was born in 1928 in the coal country of southeastern Kansas in the town of Franklin, to parents John Baptiste Loth and Ila Alice (Strope) Loth.  The family and their relatives were all involved in the coal mining industry of the area.  When Shirley was in her early childhood John moved the family to Livonia, Michigan where he went to work for General Motors.

Shirley graduated from Plymouth High School, and soon after met and married returning WWII veteran William C. Hiscock of Detroit.  They moved to Ann Arbor where with Shirley’s support, William received his law degree from the University of Michigan.  They then moved to California, living first in Culver City and then building a home in Woodland Hills.  Shirley and William were divorced in 1967.

She provided a wonderful home for her children (William A., John, and Laurie) and worked as a secretary and ultimately business administrator through the years.  She was a member of the executive management team at Dimensional Television Corporation and at Ring Brothers Management.  After retirement she moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1993, and to Colorado Springs in 2012.  She was a member of the Woodland Hills Community Church (UCC) in California, and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Albuquerque.

Shirley was predeceased by father John Loth and mother Ila Loth of Livonia, MI, brother Ralph Loth of Franklin, KS, brother Melvin Loth of Newport, TN, half-sister Velma Bohling of Kansas City, KS, and son, William A. Hiscock, PhD, of Bozeman, MT.  She is survived by son, John Warren Hiscock, JD, (Tracy) of Kanab, UT, daughter Laurie Marie Danenberg (Patrick) of Colorado Springs, CO, and  daughter-in-law, Barbara Oyster of Bozeman, MT; grandchildren – Jodie Elizabeth St. Clair (Anthony), Dale Heber Hiscock (Dani), Amy Meagan Bader (James), John William Hiscock, Adam Isaac Hiscock (Bonnie), and Ian James Hiscock (Megan); and, great-grandchildren – Connor and Aster St. Clair.
