In Loving Memory of Sally Lewis
Mrs. Sally Lewis, 65, of Colorado Springs, CO, flew to be with the angels on September 1, 2021, after a long, bravely fought battle with cancer. Sally was born October 10, 1955 in Abingdon, England to Benjamin and Jacqueline Kingdon.
After graduating from John Mason School, she pursued her passion by attending fashion college and became a dress maker and seamstress. Sally had a love of travel, venturing to many countries. She later went on to become a travel consultant for over 20 years.
Her career in travel led her to work at RAF Upper Heyford where she met her husband of nearly 34 years, Robert Lewis. They were in an instant match, marrying only after six months on October 3, 1987 at Trinity Methodist Church in Abingdon, England. They would later grow their family, having two children, Hayley and Miles.
Sally devoted her life to her loved ones. She was a generously loving, loyal and supportive wife and mother that always put her family first.
As the wife of a US Air Force airman, in 1990, Sally moved to the United States with her family, and they lived in several different locations including Edwards AFB, CA, RAF Lakenheath, England, Fairchild AFB, Washington, Luke AFB, Arizona, and U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado. They settled in Colorado Springs in 2007.
A generous and extremely kind person with a great sense of humor and a passion for life, she had a gift of making those around her feel special. She was loved by all and became lifelong friends with so many who met her.
Sally will be very sadly missed by her whole family, including brothers Jonathan and Chris, and everyone who knew her both in the UK and at home in the USA.
Sally is predeceased by her parents, Benjamin and Jacqueline, her close cousin Peter Cardew and brother-in-law Billy Lewis. She is survived by her husband, Robert, her two children Hayley and Miles, her brothers Jonathan and Christopher, son-in-law Keith and a host of beloved sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends that felt like family both in the US, England and abroad.
A funeral service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on Friday, September 10 at 11am.
