In Loving Memory of Nancy Karol Loper

Nancy Karol Loper, age 45, passed away unexpectedly July 15, 2019 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  She was born July 19, 1973 in San Antonio, Texas to Marv and Kathy Loper.  Her father served in the United States Air Force, so Nancy was blessed to live in many places including Texas, California, Michigan, Nebraska and Iowa. At the age of 11, Nancy moved to San Diego with her mom and sister and claimed San Diego as her hometown.  She graduated from Coronado High School in 1991 and attended Puget Sound Christian College near Seattle where she earned a bachelor’s degree.  After college, she returned to San Diego.

From 2003 to 2012, Nancy volunteered several times a week with the Armor Ministries, where she proofread documents and entered information into the computer systems.  This assistance directly impacted the families that were going to receive a home through the ministry.  She played a vital role in ensuring those families waiting to receive a home, had their project assigned to the group of individuals assisting with the build.   Nancy loved her Armor family very much.  She also volunteered regularly for San Diego Parks & Recreation, winning an award for her volunteer work in 2007.

The most important aspect of Nancy’s life was her relationship with Jesus Christ, our Savior. She was a devout follower and believed with all her heart in the Lord.  At church she often served as a greeter. Nancy stands as a life-time member of Living Waters in Coronado, California and joined the Alethia Church in Colorado Springs after relocating there in 2012.  Nancy relished in socializing and never met a stranger. Nancy enjoyed playing board games, reading, fellowship with family and friends, aqua aerobics, word games and country western music.

Nancy will be remembered as a strong person who faced her troubles with a smile. She served as a source of inspiration with her positive attitude to all those around her. Nancy loved to smile, laugh and would get giggly over the smallest thing.  The sound of that laugh will be forever missed.

Nancy was preceded in death by father Marvin R. Loper, Jr., maternal grandparents Richard and Vivian Dennes, paternal grandparents Marvin R. Loper, Sr. and Hulda Loper, aunt Nancy K. Larkey (her namesake), and cousin Kevin Larkey.

Nancy is survived by mother Kathy S. Loper of San Diego, California, twin sister Kathy (Andrew) Cancellieri of Colorado Springs, Colorado and her adoring cat Bubbles.  Nancy leaves behind many treasured family and friends across the world including beloved cousins Rick and Melissa Reeves of Colorado Springs, Colorado, dear friend Holly Solomon of Greely, Colorado, and mentor “Coach” Bill Cass of Coronado, California.

Nancy’s family would like to wholeheartedly thank Alethia Church in Colorado Springs for welcoming her and providing such a warm and loving community. She felt at home there.  Since Nancy’s sudden passing, Alethia has been a beacon of love and light in this sad time.

A Celebration of Nancy’s life will be held from 1 to 3 pm on Saturday, July 27th, at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 13990 Gleneagle Dr, Colorado Springs.  Doors open at 12:45 pm.  Nancy’s favorite color was purple.  Please wear purple for Nancy, even if you can only attend the celebration in spirit.

Memorial donations may be made to the Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue (RMFR), 2390 S Delaware St, Denver, CO 80223.  Nancy’s cat, Bubbles, was adopted from RMFR.
