In Loving Memory of Michael James Smith, Jr.

Michael James Smith, Jr., age 50, passed away peacefully at home on October 16, 2019 in Colorado Springs.  He was born on June 24, 1969 in Colorado Springs to Michael James Smith, Sr. and Joyce Laverne Huery.  Michael graduated from Wasson High School and eventually married his love Chalandria Scott on April 1, 2003.

Mikey (a.k.a Mister, Atomic, Atomic Life, Lil’ Mikey or to some Midget Mike–he hated that last one) was many things- a father, husband, brother, uncle- but most of all he was a friend. His life was, at times, anything but easy, but he always made it work. He cared deeply for his family and loved ones; if he said he loved you, it was genuine. He was so many different things to so many different people. He will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Ethel; his mother Joyce; and his brother Walter (Buggy).  He is survived by his wife, Chalandria; his children, Shante, Arabia, O’shea, Sikkim, Rosella, Rahzhel and Eladia; his sisters, Gail, Anita, Caroline (Pauline) and Richardene; his brothers, Dion and Ronnie; his uncle, Essa Rae Watson (Petey); his aunt Renee; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
