In Loving Memory of Mary Cindie Herrera

Mary Cindie Herrera (Hillard) passed away on July 26, 2019 at the age of 47 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born on June 24, 1972 in El Paso, Texas to Martha I. González. After graduating from Jesus and Mary High School in El Paso, Mary Cindie furthered her education through attending beauty school. Mary Cindie met the love of her life, Jason Edward Hillard, in The Woodlands, Texas in 1997.  They both knew it was meant to be and were married shortly thereafter on October 31, 1997 and enjoyed 23 wonderful years of marriage.

There are so many funny and uplifting stories that we could say about Mary Cindie, just because of the type of person she was…a beautiful and loving soul, so full of life.  Always looking at the positive no matter how negative things seemed at the time.  We had so many wonderful memories together, it would take a book to mention them all. One memory in particular, stands out more vividly. The look on her face when I came home one day and said “look, come see our new baby.” She replied with “What are you saying?”, only to discover I was holding our baby Pit Bull we named Bella.  She had so much love to give and such an enjoyment for so many different things.  Mary Cindie enjoyed all types of music from around the world.  She loved reading and learning new things, calligraphy, anthropology, trivia, hiking, and knitting. Making friends was easy for her just because of who she was and will continue to be in spirit.  As a true nature lover, she always enjoyed walking their precious Pit Bull, Bella.  Mary Cindie always wanted to come to Colorado because she loved the snow and mountains.  It was so comforting to be amidst nature and feel connected to the wonders of creation this earth has. She was blessed to have gotten to live in Colorado Springs for the last 2 years with her loving husband, Jason.

Mary Cindie is preceded in death by her grandparents, Joey and Amy González; her uncle, Robert “Marty” Friedline; father in law, Claude Edward Hillard; and grandmother, Gretchen Ann Gould.
