In Loving Memory of Marcia Bryan Brazil

In Loving Memory of Marcia Bryan Brazil, who passed away January 15, 2018 at the age of 95.

Mrs. Brazil was born on December 8, 1922 in Dunsmuir, California to Clinton Bryan and Ruth Berry Bryan.

Marcia and her future husband Raymond Ralph Brazil went to Yreka High School together and were married in San Francisco after she graduated from college. She received her B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley and her MSW from Denver University, preparing her for a life dedicated to helping others. She was a longtime employee at Pikes Peak Mental Health Center and then went on to spend ten years as a school social worker for Fountain-Fort Carson District 8. She was a member of the National Association of Social Workers.

Mrs. Brazil lived an active and vibrant life, expressing her deep love of the arts as a docent at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, skiing and playing tennis well into her 80’s and swimming and playing bridge into her 90’s. One of her fondest memories was traveling to the Fjords of Norway with her friend Irma and sister Maggy. She loved to travel and spend time outside in nature. She had a strong devotion to family and tradition. She was a progressive thinker and enjoyed a good laugh. The sterling silver was used daily at Marcia’s house. She viewed every day as a special occasion

She will be deeply missed by her children, Leslie Farkas (Howard); Ross Brazil, Jon Brazil, Lindsay Brazil, and Melanie Brazil Aksland (David); her grandchildren, Anna Raynor, Michael McClendon, Grant Farkas, Hayley Brazil, Evan Brazil (Shauna), Ian Aksland and Thea Aksland; her great-grandchildren, Alexandra Raynor and Desi Brazil (Jessica), by three great-great grandchildren; and her sister, Lyn Levin.

She is reunited in death with her beloved husband, Raymond Ralph Brazil, as well as her siblings Beatrice Walker, John Bryan, Margaret Bryan and Wilma Murray.

A Celebration of Marcia’s life for her friends and family will be held at the Broadmoor Pauline Chapel, 2 Park Avenue, on April 28th at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to Pikes Peak Hospice.
