In Loving Memory of Joshua Ashley Weichelt

Joshua Ashley Weichelt died May 2, 2022, in Colorado Springs. He was 44.

Josh was born in Beckley, W.Va., to George S. Weichelt and Dr. Gail Dudley. He lived on a remote farm in Elton, W.Va., until age 5 and then in various towns in Florida for the rest of his childhood and into young adulthood.

As a child, Josh loved playing with Legos and riding his bike and skateboard, and he played on his school’s soccer team. He attended Eau Gallie High School in Melbourne, Fla.

Josh graduated with honors from Culinard Culinary School in Birmingham, Ala. He worked at many restaurants and at Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne in a cook/chef capacity.

As an adult, he lived in Florida, West Virginia, Virginia and Alabama, moving to Colorado in 2017.

Josh was quick to laugh and was easily amused. He liked to tease his loved ones. Over the years, he nurtured several pets that he either found as strays or acquired as babies.

Josh’s road in life was often very rocky, but he persevered and rebounded many times. He sought love and family and remained open to finding both.

Josh is survived by his mother, of central Florida; his sister and brother-in-law, Joelle and Chris Junior, of central New Jersey; his daughter and granddaughter, Jayden and Kyndall Day, of Alabama; his son, Braylen Reynolds, of Alabama; his former stepbrother, Ray Ferguson, of West Virginia; his good friends Marissa Woodard and Garret Johnson, both of Florida; a few aunts, uncles and cousins; and his beloved dog, Chloe.
