In Loving Memory of Derrick Dwayne Armstead

Derrick Dwayne Armstead, age 41, passed away on June 30, 2019 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  He was born on April 24, 1978 in Pineville, Louisiana to Armell Armstead, Sr. and Mary Francis Frison-Armstead.  He grew up in Alexandria, Louisiana where he also attended Peabody High School.

Derrick was raised as a Baptist and it showed in his love for Gospel music and his giving spirit.  He was a collector of things such as scrap metal, shoes, and clothing, but he would always give whatever he could to those less fortunate than he.  Coming from a large family, he truly appreciated what that meant.  Derrick was once asked, “What is the best thing about family?”, to which he replied, “We work things out and we know that we love each other”.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Rose May Armstead; his stepfather, Raymond Frison; and his father, Armell Armstead, Sr.

Derrick is survived by his mother, Mary Francis Frison-Armstead of Colorado and many brothers and sisters, including Armell Armstead, Jr. of Hawaii; Donald Armstead of Colorado; Daniel Armstead of Louisiana; Barry Armstead of Colorado; David Armstead of Colorado; Verna Hazel of Louisiana; Virginia Stelly of Texas; Annette Thompson of Oklahoma; Paulette Purcell of Florida; and Felisha McKim of Alabama.  Also leaving behind brother in laws, sister in laws, and numerous nieces and nephews.
