In Loving Memory of
Gloria Diane Jean Price Fleagle
December 25, 1936 – October 28, 2017
Gloria Diane Jean Price Fleagle slipped peacefully from her earthly bonds on October 28, 2017 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Gloria was a gymnast, dancer, teacher, seamstress and an Air Force wife. She was born Christmas Day to Frank and Anita Price in Milwaukee, WI. Her twin brother, David, passed away that same day.
She was married on April 19, 1954 to Roy Fleagle (USAF SMSGT) at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Milwaukee, WI. Gloria was predeceased by her husband, Roy, who was the light of her life, complementing each other through their 58-year journey. Roy passed away April 18, 2013, the day before their 59th anniversary.
Gloria graduated early from West Division High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and attended a semester of college at State Teachers College before marrying Roy at the age of 17. The first two years of their married life were spent in the Territory of Alaska where Roy was stationed at Ladd Air Force Base. As an Air Force wife, she traversed two continents accompanying Roy on his assignments to Great Lakes, IL, Sun Prairie, WI, Bitburg, Germany, Eglin AFB, FL, Phoenix, AZ, and back to Florida, where they built their retirement home after Roy retired from the Air Force. Subsequently, Gloria and Roy lived in Busher, Iran and Rabat, Morocco before returning to settle in Crestview, FL. Gloria moved to Colorado Springs to live with her daughter Lesley, husband Paul and their family following Roy’s passing in 2013.
Gloria was a gymnast at the Milwaukee Turners from the age of five. She was a ballet and tap dancer with Ethyl Koch Studio in Milwaukee when her dancing partners, Arnie and Daisy Stein, invited her to be part of their Vaudeville-Style Act. Dancing and travel would be intertwined for her from that point on; their act went briefly through New Mexico and Arizona before ending in Southern California. Gloria taught Ballroom Dancing in Fairbanks, and she and Roy square-danced their way through Europe and continued through Florida and Arizona. Folks would often clear the floors to watch them dance at weddings.
Travel was an important part of their lives as they traveled extensively throughout Europe during the three years they were stationed in Germany; they especially enjoyed Italy. Later, during contract work, they lived and traveled through Iran and Morocco and enjoyed trips to Gibraltar, Spain and Germany with Gloria’s brother, Guy and his wife, Darlene. Cruising through the Caribbean, Hawaii, Alaska and Mexico rounded out their traveling. Gloria talked often about how grateful she was that Roy had an adventurous spirit just like her. She was also very proud of the retirement home she and Roy built for themselves in Crestview, FLA. Unfinished at the time of his passing, Roy entrusted son-in-law Paul with details necessary to finish the house to his specifications.

Gloria and Roy were passionate about helping others. She remained proud of Roy’s efforts to keep his young troops out of trouble by inviting them to spend weekends at their apartment. Reaching out to others was a way of life. They welcomed people from all faiths and all walks of life into their family circle. From sponsoring a family of thirteen from Vietnam to opening their property to their adopted Lakota Sioux family to providing for their Moroccan friend, Fatima, Gloria and Roy made sure everyone felt welcome. That Roy became a Pipe Holder for the Lakota Sioux remained dear to both of their hearts. Gloria continued to generously help others during her four years living in Colorado. Children, Veterans, the sick and the poor received her full empathy and she made sure to support each of these causes, dropping off a large number of quilts to the Springs Mission and mailing checks to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and the Paralyzed Veterans of America in the last week.
