Garry James Moore, age 74, passed away June 15, 2018 in Colorado Springs. He’d been a resident of Colorado Springs for 47 years. Garry was born in 1943 in Duluth, Minnesota to Joseph Francis Moore and Josephine Marie Moore (Balzer). Garry worked hard for his associates in Fire education. He was a senior E-1 in the Navy, Vietnam, stationed on USS Topeka Naval ship, 4 years serviced Armory-shell loader. Garry was employed with Douglas Aircraft Company, Grayson Controls – timer maker, while in California, then after moving back with his family to Colorado, he worked as a United States Air Force Academy Fire Inspector for 22 years. He enjoyed dressing up as Smokey the Bear when he was with the fire Department and teaching about fire safety to kids.
He also enjoyed fishing, hiking/back packing, camping, walking, and bicycle riding. Garry loved the color purple and one of his favorite earlier songs was Moody Blues- Nights in White Satin.
He would help anyone out. Garry was always willing to do that.
He is preceded by his parents Joseph Moore and Josephine Moore.
Garry is survived by one son Gary Moore Jr., and one daughter Tulare Wallace; his grandson Chris Priddy, one granddaughter Alora Wallace; two great-granddaughters Rose Budynas and Eileena Budynas; and three sisters, Sue Tyler, Wanda Stearns and Pam Turner and niece and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Return to Nature Funeral Home parlor, 123 East Las Animas Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903. The service will begin right at 11:00 with military honors, followed immediately by an informal time for fellowship with friends and family. All are welcome to please come and pay your respects for this great man.
