In Loving Memory of Derek Coy Dwyer
Derek Coy Dwyer
July 11, 2001 – November 5, 2020
Derek Coy Dwyer, 19, of Colorado Springs and formerly of Portland, Oregon passed away quietly in his sleep on November 5th, 2020. Our world is a lesser place without him.
Although Derek was only 19, he was incredibly focused and determined to succeed. He purchased his very own home two months before leaving us. He held the same full-time job for two years as he endeavored into the real world. Derek’s achievements and ambitions spoke to his character and upbringing.
Derek was an athlete in high school and had a passion for sports; especially football, which allowed him to immediately engage with anyone that he encountered. His easy smile and quick wit made him a welcome addition to any conversation.
Derek was an amazing, intelligent, and thoughtful young man with a promising future. His work ethic was outstanding and defied the generation in which he was raised. He made no excuses and gave everything he had to everything he did.
Derek was a dedicated sibling to his little brother, Brody, with whom he shared a deep bond. He was a mama’s boy to his beautiful mother, Pamela, whom he always spoke about with compassion, love, adoration, and reverence. Derek’s father, Brandon was the guiding light in Derek’s world. Derek worked tirelessly to make his family proud!
Derek… you succeeded, Son, in all ways. You were taken far too young and you will be forever missed.
