In Loving Memory of Cal Bogner
Calvin Homer Bogner 1944 – 2019
Remembering Calvin “Cal” Homer Bogner, born November 6, 1944 to Forrest and Edith (Sarah) Bogner in La Junta, Colorado.
Cal married his high school sweetheart, Claire Wadhams, on August 17, 1963 in Las Animas where they lived until 1971, at which time they moved to Colorado Springs and have resided there since. They recently celebrated 56 years of marriage.
Cal passed away on Monday, November 4, 2019 where he was surrounded by his family. He spent his final days being cared for at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Cal is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister. He is survived by his wife Claire (Wadhams) Bogner, his sister Velma (Bogner) Ansley, his children, Scott Bogner, Annette (Bogner) Perryman and Jimmie Perryman, Angela (Bogner) Williamson and husband Michael Williamson. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Russel and his wife Heather, Nathaniel, Khrysti, Joshua, Brendan, Kenton, Ty, and Carter; great-grandchildren, Eliza and Landonn. Cal also left behind his dog and trusty companion, Rain.
Cal was a very special man and touched many hearts, more than he had ever known. Sharing his emotions was not a strength for Cal, however, he had a way about him that undoubtedly let you know he loved you whether he said it or not. He will be remembered for his unique sense of humor and never knowing a stranger. It was a telltale sign that he thought highly of you if you were subject to his heckling. In his younger days, Cal worked as a rodeo clown and rodeo hand. In addition to being a skilled welder for most of his life, Cal was also a self-proclaimed Jack-of-All trades and a master of none, as he would say. Cal had a passion for passing his knowledge and skills onto young people, it gave him great pleasure to share his wisdom. Underneath his gruff exterior was a very kind and light-hearted man who would do anything for anyone. Cal also had a love for scrapping, which lead to him bringing home what many would consider a lot of junk but were great treasures to him. Cal will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
A time of remembrance with the family will be held from 3:00pm to 7:00pm Friday, November 8, 2019 at Return to Nature Funeral Home, 815 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in memory of Cal to the American Heart Association, American Lung Association, or COPD Foundation.
