In Loving Memory of Barbara Hamblen
Barbara Jean Hamblen, age 76, passed away on September 20, 2019 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born on June 5, 1943 to Oakley Silas Bunner and Mary Evizich in Sacramento, California. Barbara grew up in Sacramento, attending Bishop Armstrong High School. Barbara met her husband when he showed up to go on a date with her aunt; however, they hit it off and started dating instead. After they married, Barbara and Norman eventually settled in Ft. Bragg, California, living there for close to 20 years raising their daughter. Barbara had her own home business baking pies for the local restaurants before working for the United Postal Service where she walked the route delivering mail and eventually moved to working the counter.
After Barbara retired from the USPS she and Norm moved to Philo, California and finally settled in Lake Havasu City, Arizona after spending time on the road in their motor home seeing the country. After Norman’s passing in 2010, Barbara moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren.
She was as kind and generous as she was tough and strong. Although she suffered from chronic pain for years, she always had a smile for everyone she met. She loved to cook and spending time in the kitchen with those she loved brought her great joy. Not only did she enjoy the company of everyone, but she especially loved the companionship of her four-legged family and friends, and they especially loved her back; she always knew where to scratch and pet, and she always had a treat for them.
She is preceded by her husband Norman Clark Hamblen; father Oakley Bunner; her mother Mary Evezich Bunner Cheshire, her step-mother Violet Bunner; her step-father Robert F. Cheshire and his wife Mary Bobo.
Barbara is survived by her brother Robert (Bobby) Cheshire; daughter Darlene Hamblen; grandsons Christopher Moulton and Stephen Moulton; granddaughter Ashley Moulton Barker; step-son Samuel Hamblen and his daughter Samantha; step-son Clark Hamblen, his wife Christy and their children Joseph Hamblen and his wife Elyse and their daughters; Sara Hamblen and her children; Luke Hamblen; step-daughter Dianna Hamblen McKimmons and her children Alisha and Brandon; grand-dog Ukiah Hamblen; several cousins and many other family and friends.
