In Loving Memory of Ashley Nicole Gossett

Ashley Nicole Gossett passed away on October 29, 2019 in Pueblo West, Colorado at the young age of 19.  She was born on December 14, 1999 in La Junta, Colorado to Dennis James Gossett, Jr. and Brenda Marlene Gossett (Shore).  Ashley grew up in the Arkansas Valley and Pueblo, Colorado.  She had just graduated this year from Rocky Ford High School and was aspiring to become a veterinarian because of her great love for animals. There was one animal though, that she loved more than any other…her dog Ozzy.  She loved taking him on peaceful walks and on occasion dressing him up and take silly pictures.  Ashley had so much joy in her heart, she was a happy go lucky child.

Shortly after Ashley was born, she contracted RSV and became so sick that she had to be transported in a Flight for Life helicopter to a Denver hospital.  After fighting her little heart out, she was finally able to come home.  Even though she had a speech impairment and was not able to speak until the age of 5, she was able to communicate through body language.  It was always like playing a game of charades!

As she grew older, Ashley loved to be outdoors, riding 4 wheelers, camping and fishing, especially with her dad.  She was such a Daddy’s Girl. But she also loved being around all her family.  She would often play with her nieces and nephews…everything from tea parties to practical jokes. She also loved playing video games with her brother, especially Minecraft. More recently she spent some quality time with her younger cousins whom she had not seen in a while. She started them on an App called Pokemon Go.  She had them all out walking and exercising to look for the Pokemon.  The last weekend she spent with her cousins, they went fishing, carved pumpkins, and pulled Halloween pranks on each other. They enjoyed their time with her so much they wanted her to live with them in Wetmore.  She left a lasting impression on those she loved and who loved her.  Ashley was just a big kid at heart.  She was so caring, laughed a lot, and was living and loving life.  Ashley made a significant impression on everyone she was around and will be missed greatly.

Ashley is preceded in death by her father, Dennis Gossett; her cousin Drew Shore; and her grandparents, Evelyn and Bub Gossett.  She is survived by her mother, Brenda Gossett; brother Dennis Gossett, Jr. (Deanna); nieces, Serenity and Harley; nephew, Eric Gossett; grandmother, Edythe Beramen; grandfather, Richard Shore; aunts and uncles, Edie Trotti, Sandra and Bill Gossett, Robin Shore, Doug and Rhonda Gossett, Kenny and Eva Tyler; multiple cousins; and friends Rachel and Dominic Cordova of Rocky Ford and Mariah Tillermyer of Pueblo.
